Luga

This document only covers the part of the LUGA that lies within the territory of the City of Luxembourg.
Given the topography of the City of Luxembourg, with its plateau and the two valleys of the rivers Pétrusse and Alzette, it is difficult to follow the points numbered 1 to 75 chronologically. We propose a route to follow in order to reach all the points of attraction of the exhibition with the least possible difficulty.
The multitude of points of entry to this exhibition allows great flexibility for the visit. Please consult the “Mobilite.lu” website to help you optimise your visit using free public transport;
Given the size of the route, we invite you to prepare your visit and concentrate on the events that speak to you most.
The first part to visit would be from point 1 in the Parc Municipal Edouard André, near the Fondation Pescatore, and even within the grounds of the latter for point 1 “Cocon exploratif”. The beaten earth and wide paths make it easy for PRMs to get around. Access to the Foundation grounds is via 2 doors, one of which has a 100 cm clearance.
Within the same enclosure is point 2, the Orchid Greenhouse, which can be visited without obstacles.  Point 3, the Jardins de la Fédération Horticole Luxembourgeoise (Gardens of the Luxembourg Horticultural Federation), can be visited on a 150-cm-wide wooden path. One section of this attraction (a small rest area with two wooden deckchairs) is difficult for PRMs to access
. We continue our tour towards point 4, “l'Indiscret”, on a flat asphalt path. Access to this Event is via wooden planks 150 cm wide.
The rest of the route takes us across the Avenue de la Porte Neuve on a pedestrian crossing without traffic lights, to enter the Parc Municipale.
To reach point 5, “Roseraie Amélie”, we head in the direction of Villa Vauban, taking a diversion due to the steep gradient, but this still allows us to visit point 32, “La Serre Merveilleuse”, whose 94-cm-wide entrance door and 150-cm-wide wooden plank path allow us to visit this Event. We then pass by point 6 “Plantes du Luxembourg” and turn left to visit this flower-filled event;
After this point, we continue to cross the parks, which are divided by, among others, Avenue Emile Reuter and Avenue Monterey, while taking in a number of attractions, all of which are within easy reach. We cross Avenue Marie-Thérèse to take a look at the Vallée de la Pétrusse, without actually going down into it.

We then suggest taking the tram from the Centre Hamilius towards the airport to get to the Kirchberg plateau.  And we get off at the “Roudbreck Paffendaal” stop
We cross Boulevard Kennedy, then turn left towards Mudam. This smooth, slightly sloping path is next to a cycle track.  After crossing the pedestrian bridge, we turn right, leaving the Mudam on our left. This path has a gradient of 4.5%, allowing us to admire Point 42 “The Living Pyramid”
To see it up close we have to cross a lawn, which although flat, can pose problems after heavy rain
Point 29 “Endymion” is at the foot of point 42, accessible if you can see the path over a dirt surface that is not smooth.
After this excursion to the “3 Eechelen” plateau, we return to the “Roudbreck Paffendaal” tram station.
This time, however, we'll be taking the funicular in combination with the lifts down into “Paffendaal”.
On leaving the lift, we head left to visit points 44; 27 “After the collapse”, which is difficult to access despite the dirt track that passes through this event, which can be seen from the outside.
We continue on our route along the Alzette, passing by point 26 “Tryptique”, which is also difficult to access due to its sloping construction.
The rest of the route takes us to Luga Lab and the “Grow together” attraction, both of which are easily accessible and equipped with benches and toilets for PRMs (see Luga Lab description)
At this point, we recommend turning back to the bridge over the Alzette, which leads to Rue Laurent Ménager.
We take this cobbled street to reach point 28 “Solum”. This is an impressive spot, but access is difficult due to the steep slope and stony road.
This road leads to the Aqua Tunnel (see Aqua Tunnel section).
To visit the 2nd part of the Alzette Valley and the Pétrusse Valley, take the lift to the Parc Municipal Edouard André.
From here, you can take the tram from the Place du Théâtre towards the Stade and get off at the Centre Hamilius, or go directly to the Plateau du St Esprit through the town centre. Although this is a city of tourist interest, the distance to cover is still considerable.
It is worth noting that a large underground car park is available at the Plateau du Saint Esprit, which makes it possible to consider using a car.
Leaving the lift at the “Grund”, we cross the Alzette and turn left towards Neimünster Abbey on a flat cobbled path.  We cross the site and arrive at a set of stairs. There is a facility for PRMs, manned by a security guard, to negotiate them.  After this rather difficult passage, we can visit the Water Forum (point 21), which is located in a cul-de-sac.
Continuing our journey towards the “Rives de Clausen”, we can admire the “Urban Oasis” (point 22) on a smooth, flat surface. We come across a gate on our way, the weight of which could be an obstacle.
After leaving the “Rives de Clausen”, we crossed the Alzette again to discover the “Racines du Futur” event. This event is not accessible to people with reduced mobility because of its waterfall configuration.
We continue our visit on the other side of the street to discover the Parc Mansfeld.
The Parc Mansfeld is a large, flat area housing point 24 “Histoire(s) d'Eau”.
Please note that the entrance to the park is 95 cm wide.  It is possible to access the park via the Allée Pierre Mansfeld to get around this obstacle.
At this point, we recommend returning along the same path to head towards the Vallée de la Pétrusse.
We return to the point where we first crossed the Alzette after leaving the Plateau Saint-Esprit lift.
Following the Alzette on our right, we follow the “Bisserwée” to visit points 20 “Les Périscopes”, which can be observed from the outside, and 19 “Le chant de l'Alzette”, to which access is possible.
Note that the “Bisserwée” is a paved, level street.
After this detour, we return to the bridge, the starting point of the tour, and turn left towards the Pétrusse valley.
We have to walk on a narrow pavement along the road before reaching the entrance to the Vallée de la Pétrusse.
Opposite the “Science Hub” and the information point is point 18 “Herbularius”, which is not accessible for PRMs because of the steep slope leading up to it.

The visit to the Pétrusse valley, with its series of events, takes place on level ground with excellent obstacle-free surfaces. Numerous benches and other facilities invite visitors to relax in beautiful green surroundings.

The return journey to the starting point takes the same route.

Text english The Culture Hub food and beverage outlet offers food and drink from 11.30am to 10.00pm on weekdays and 10.00am to 8.30pm on Sundays. This ephemeral facility provides visitors with a place to rest during their visit. The mobile chairs and tables make it easy to move around. Access to this facility is rather difficult, given the steep 10% ascent, so the operator and his staff are happy to lend a hand to visitors with reduced mobility (they have planned to install a bell at the foot of the ascent). This is the only restaurant directly linked to Luga. Other restaurants are listed on the interactive map on the Luga website.

Text english The aqua tunnel in Luxembourg City connects the Petrus Valley with the Pfaffenthal. It is 900 metres long, 4.40 metres wide and 3.25 metres high and lies on average 60 metres below the floor of Luxembourg City. The temperature in the humid tunnel is between 12 and 14 °C all year round, and it is advisable to explore this exhibition with warmer clothing and sturdy shoes. This collection channel for wastewater from the Luxembourg suburbs that runs under the city was built between July 1961 and August 1963. The tunnel under the city is also connected to the fortress of Luxembourg: there is an access to the old fountain of the Place d'Armes. For PMR, the tunnel can only be visited from the Pfaffental, as the exit in the Petrusstal is only possible via high stairs. The ground is flat but covered with puddles and clay in places. This is also the only paid exhibition at the Luga
